What you need to do before boarding your pet in Griffin, GA
You’ve decided that Jack the Jack russell terrier might be a little much for your grandparents and all of the aunts, uncles, and cousins during the holidays. But what do you need to do to make sure Jack is okay while you’re gone.
There are so many things to take care of for yourself, that sometimes you forget there are items that need to be addressed for Jack. It’s not simply a matter of getting him in the car and dropping him off.
- Make sure Jack has his current rabies and distemper/parvo vaccine. Have the paperwork that is dated within the last year ready to give to personnel.
- Provide a report of a negative fecal exam to the boarders. This exam should be done within the last six months. If it’s been longer, schedule a vet visit beforehand.
- If Jack is a puppy, he still needs the above in order to board. He also needs to have had all of his puppy vaccine series beforehand.
- Kennel Cough vaccine isn’t required, but if you do get that vaccine, understand that Jack will need to be quarantined for 10 days before boarding.
- If Jack has fleas or ticks, he will be sent home or given treatment and quarantined at additional expense.
- Bring Jack’s food, ideally prepackaged portions in individual bags, so his diet remains the same.
- Dog beds aren’t allowed to come in from your home, but you can bring his favorite blanket.
- Decide what package you want for Jack. You may want him to be able to play all day long, or if you have a Jill at home, you can have the two of them in the same kennel run.
- Make sure to check the dates and times for drop offs and pick-ups. Certain holidays are closed for drop off and pick up and if you have a late pick up there is a fee.
In Griffin, we provide our guests with raised beds, blankets, and stainless steel bowls. We understand that different pets have different needs. Jack may love to chat it up with the fellas, while Jill may be more of a one dog kinda gal. So, whether your dog needs private time or team sports, our trained staff are here to provide for them during their stay.
All guests will receive a complimentary bath if they stay over 5 days and might we recommend a bit of spa treatment, or at least a good grooming before you pick them up?
It’s really not a long list to make sure Jack has a good stay at our facility before you go. He may end up enjoying himself more than you do!
